Cliché Storm: The game uses basically every horror trope there is, with varying degrees of humanoid abominations (ranging from Body Horror monsters to Ambiguously Human), tons of jump scares, cat scares, no way to defend yourself, a Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane situation, an ambiguous Downer Ending, having no way to contact the outside world or escape, implausibly strong killers, an evil influence, a main character with a Dark Secret, and a ridiculous amount of almost over-the-top Gorn (such as the piles of dead babies for a start), far more than even the first game.
Contested Sequel: While most consider Outlast II to be a very effective horror game, whether it's a worthy successor to the first game and its DLC tends to be divisive. Stalking the darkened school is a mysterious suited man, likely a teacher, who eventually appears as a nude Humanoid Abomination with a dozen arms and an Overly Long Tongue, who attacks Blake in extremely invasive and lascivious ways. He is subjected to so many images of Jessica hanging that you'd swear the game developers just learned what a Red Herring is. To wit, in his hallucinations, Blake is repeatedly sent back in time to his old Catholic school the night Jessica died. Captain Obvious Reveal: The fate of Jessica Gray. For as long as that unlucky person stays in those caves, only death could be a suitable release at that point but that might never come. Val is not a very picky one with who and what she wants, but when she has what she wants, she never lets go. When they are done, the victim is left battered and bleeding, and then the cycle repeats. They gang up on them, the poor soul getting thrashed and pulled and bitten in a myriad of beast-like heretics, people who could never again be recognized as human again.
Sometimes, she’ll allow her followers to “partake in the love” with her victim. She claims that they don’t need their old family and life anymore, and that she and her followers are their family now.
They won’t receive fresh food and bathing in chilly cave pools is not very convenient either. Then she tries to make her pet like her, sometimes stripping them of their clothes and smothering them in mud, marking them with fresh blood as well. She’s very possessive and sickly sweet with her “pet”, always making unexpected advances towards them. She doesn’t stop until both of them successfully reach their peak, declaring that they are hers now and always will be. She is always on top and is always rough with her victim, relishing in every moment, every thrust, each advance is planned and carried through with. Occasionally, she’ll use sedatives made from natural plants that she gathers from the woods and fields outside the town to keep them quiet and submissive. She’s not fazed by the struggling for the most part, but she will get annoyed if they’re struggling too much and is quick to punish them for it. She holds them down firmly, never letting them slip away. She’s always slow and careful with those who are virgins, taking her time savoring every touch, every sensation. She doesn’t care about gender, once she has you, all’s fair for her. She’s always quick to respond when the opportunity presents itself, dragging the unfortunate victim back to the dark, musty mines she calls home. She gets especially excited when she finds out they are a virgin, not yet touched by intimate endeavors. It should be of no surprise to many people that Val adores her “pets” very much, and when she finds a new one, she does not stop until they are hers.
